Meetings 2016-2017

By request, this is a Still Life Workshop.  I will bring light but this is a self-help group so you should bring something to photograph, even if its fruit or flower.  Please confirm if you will attend.

The PHOTOGRAPHIC ALLIANCE OF GREAT BRITAIN invite all interested in Photography, whether members of a competing club or not, to attend this exciting and stimulating event. It is held in the 550-seat tiered theatre within The Arts Centre complex of the University. The University is just a few miles south west of Coventry, Brown Signed off the A45 the southern Coventry By-pass. There are Bar and Catering facilities within the building and ample free Car Parking. 

Two Clubs from each of the 15 Federations, together with the top 8 placed clubs from the 2016 Championships will...

This one is PRINTS ONLY I'm afraid as we have no projector.

I will have prints from the pictures you sent me of Robert taken on our studio night for you to look at.

Also I will have the first batch of prints for our People of D&G Project.

Bring your Prints AND PDI for a robust discussion.  Everyone will be expected to participate.  Please don't come just to watch.  You can bring pictures we have seen before but we will be more interested in new work.  The object will be to discuss fairly, not unkindly, but looking at how the picture could have been done better.

The set theme in our Platinum Anniversary year is "70."

A Q&A evening.  If you have any queries about Photoshop, Lightroom or any other photography software, please post them here and we will find someone who can demonstrate the solution.  Suggestions so far include 'actions' in Photoshop and batch processing photos. 

Conversely, if you know any tricks or shortcuts that you are willing to share on the 15th, please add the information to this post.

Rod Wheelans will give an update on plans for the 70th Anniversary Exhibition opening on 26th August.  Rod will also give advice on how to approach, engage and photograph people for the project.

Joan Blease MPAGB ARPS descibes herself as a photographer and digital artist who enjoys blurring the boundaries between conventional art and photography.

Tonights judge, Keith Collins from Kendal, is fairly new to the NCPF list and it is great that he is coming to Dumfries.

Club Member David has: "Collected molten lava * Been charged by an elephant * Smuggled himself into a country without a passport * Carried water in the Kalahari Desert * Broken both legs mountain climbing and self rescued * Survived a volcanic eruption * Worked as a ranger in the Grand Canyon * Taught environmental science courses * Caught snakes with his bare hands * Witnessed emergency evacuations * Advised hundreds of expeditions around the world."

One of Scotland’s foremost Landscape Photographers, Allan Wright has been photographing Scotland and his adopted homeland of Galloway for 30 years. The Scottish landscape in classic, literal and abstract forms is the focus of the majority of his work, and Allan has developed a distinctive style of interpreting landscape through his use of colour and his handling of light.
