The return of the “BEAT THAT” madness

If you've not been involved before, you're in for a treat. This is a fun night where teams compete to beat each others images. But what constitutes "beating"!!

Plus a short Report from the SPF Inter-Club PDI Championship

LAST Hand in Prints for Print League Round Two (Remember to upload PDI copies of your prints)

Comments

It is unlikely that I will be able to permit any extension on the Print Hand In deadline.

When submitting the titles for the prints it would really help if the PDI of the image was uploaded in the normal 1400x1050 px aspect.  It takes quite some time to set the camera and projector up before the judging and even with the best (technicians!) it is not possible to produce the results that do anything other than give an impression of what the image might look like.

It is really only the folk at the back of the room that would benefit from this, what are your thoughts?

you guys do a great job on the night & anything which makes it easier for you is good with the added benefit of it helping all to see the image projected at its best

does that make sense David?

Perfect!

For those unfamiliar with the 'Beat That' format, this will involve those attending being split into 3 groups, each with a laptop, projector and display screen/wall. A judge/s designated for the evening will provide a title or theme for each round, following which the first team will have a limited amount of time to project an image of their choice with suitable title. The next team will then have a similar length of time to project an image with title to beat this (at least in the eyes of the judge). The third team will then follow suit. Each team will take it in turn going first and in some rounds the team going first may be permitted to choose their own title/theme, without input from the judge.

The trick to winning? You can either come up with a similar but superior image to the team/s going before you, come up with an unusual or awkward image/title if your going first, or if you have nothing similar in your bank to the previous team, come up with something funny or downright stupid. There must however be some obvious link to the image you are following, even if this is a bit tenuous. If you make the judge laugh, you're usually onto a winner.

For the competition to work, we do of course need a bank of images for each team to choose from. I would therefore strongly encourage everyone attending on the evening to bring along a selection of PDI's (in the usual club format), from which to choose your group's 'bank' of 40 images. Please don't bring a huge number or we'll spend more time picking the image banks than running the competition. Don't forget to bring the strange and humourous.

Please come along, even if you just want to watch, as the 'Beat that' competition is usually an absolute hoot!

There will be a Club Draw during the evening, it's a rollover, has to be won and the prize pot starts at £12. Please bring your £1s. Good Luck.

The prize pot of £23.50 was won by Anne Greiner. No draw next week as it's a judging night.

Just noticed the time for tonights meeting does this evenings meeting start at 7.30-m or 8.30pm as stated

Enjoyed Beat That thank you guys and girls of the committee. But still think A team was robbed! :)
