Held at Holywood Hall - NOT AT GRACEFIELDS THIS NIGHT
Competing clubs this year are: Dumfries, Stranraer, Stewartry, Abbey, and U3A
All Dumfries members are welcome along with members from the other clubs and a raffle will be held on the night (please donate a prize if you can).
Judged by Neil & Libby Smith from Carluke Camera Club.
Here how it all works:
20 PDI images from each club in Colour or Monochrome. Maximum of 8 Nature plus 1 or 2 humorous PDI which the judge will be asked to give credit to. If the judge smiles it should get through the first round at least.
The judging to be done as a Knockout - a format which is much more fun for the audience than scoring out of 20. First Round, the judge will go through all the PDI and knock out about 50% immediately - reducing to about 55-65.
In the Second Round, the judge will look at all the remaining PDI and knock out about 50% - reducing to about 25-30 pictures. The PDI knocked out in this round will score 2 points.
In the Third Round, the judge will look at all the remaining PDI and reduce to 10 - perhaps a couple more if they cannot be split. The PDI knocked out in this round will score 3 points.
All of the PDI reaching the Final will score 4 points. The judge will then pick a Best PDI and, if he/she wishes, a number of Commendations. The Best PDI (only) will be awarded a bonus point.
The winning club will be the one with the most points. This format tends to keep the scores very close.
Plus: final hand in for the Annual Exhibition and so please bring your panel of prints along to Holywood Hall (Not Gracefields). Fill out your titles on the Annual Exhibition Form in your orange Member's navigation area above - DEADLINE for titles is 26th Feb.

More detail added above and we encourage all members to come along to Holywood Hall for this fun night. If you are able to contribute to the raffle then even better and bring something along. Plus, final hand in for the Annual exhibition - please bring your panel of prints along if you haven't already. BUT- you must have filled out the Annual Exhibition Form above before the 26th Feb!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Ian says, to-night has a raffle with prizes, rather than a draw - or will have if you please bring a prize with you. Variety adds to the fun. The proceeds from the raffle cover the costs associated with this competition so please come ready to buy a ticket or two; I'll have more than one colour of ticket available. Thanks and Good Luck.
