You can get started with close-up photography using just your camera and kit lens. Like all things photographic, sooner or later you are likely to want to do things that require investment, but then you will be faced with deciding which things are worth spending your money on and which would be a waste of money.
I will take you through the equipment and techniques used in close-up and macro photography. In particular, I'll show how you can progress through the use of close-up filters, macro lenses, extension tubes and bellows.
Accessories such as garden canes, focus rails and The Plamp will be shown.
Lighting is always an issue with this type of photography so I will discuss various ways to deal with it and will show a light tent and a ring flash.
Using my equipment, you will have an opportunity to experience the difficulties involved in focusing on your subject and you will experience at first hand the very shallow depth of field. After that I will cover the technique of focus stacking.
Thank you once again John for sharing your knowledge and giveing us an insight into macro and close work. Good turn out of members again and I am sure we will see a bit more of this subject coming into out competitions
