The SPF Annual Portfolio Competition 2016 was held during our summer break though in fact it was run in Dumfries and our own John McVie who was the man in charge. Many thanks to him and all his team for all their hard work.
Scottish clubs were invited to take part in up to three sections: Colour Print, Mono Print and PDI and in each section the clubs were competing against each other. Alan Walker from Keswick, Pax Garabedian from Carlisle and Alan McCormick from Hexham judged the images.
I am delighted to report that Dumfries came joint first with Carluke in the Colour Print Section, joint first with Bon Accord in the Mono print section and second to Paisley in the PDI section – they beat us by one point.
We also did extremely well in the individual awards:
Best Nature Print - Great Egret by Mick Durham
Alan Walker Judge’s Choice Colour Print - My Room, My Rules by Ian Findlay
Pax Garabedian Judges Choice Colour Print - Radio Man by Anne Greiner
Best Portrait Print – Fredau by Rod Wheelans
Alan Walker’s Judges Choice Mono Print – Jack by Margaret Elliot
Best Overall Projected Image – Fredau on a bed by Rod Wheelans
Best Nature Projected Image – Predator and Prey by Mick Durham
Alan Walker Judge’s Choice Projected – Grey Heron Fishing by Mick Durham
As well as all the individual awards many of our members had images accepted. In all we had:
Colour Print: 26
Mono Print: 21
PDI: 18
If you would like to see the full list of accepted images these can be found on the SPF website at: http://www.scottish-photographic-federation.org/spf-annual-portfolios
Once again Dumfries Camera Club has shown itself to be a formidable force within the Scottish Photographic Federation. Congratulations to all who took part.
