The Glencairn Ward at Midpark Hospital is one of six wards within the hospital. Glencairn is a 15 bedded unit that supports older adults who are experiencing difficulties with their current mental health, which cannot be supported at home and so require hospital admission. Care is provided by a wide range of multi-disciplinary team members; staff also work in partnership with family and friends, to provide a high standard of patient centred care.
Staff in Glencairn were seeking to obtain wall art that would encourage conversation, allow discussion about previous life experiences, memories and reflection on hobbies and places visited in the region.
The Camera Club members were happy to undertake this task and provided multiple pictures for the Glencairn team to choose from. Eight pictures were chosen, and reproduced onto large canvases for the staff to hang within the ward.
The pictures have proven to be a huge success for both patients and staff, and the time, effort and skill dedicated by Dumfries Camera Club members was very much appreciated.
